Activa wishbone linkages

Unread post by Deanxm »

Hi all

Just a quick question, are the linkages that bolt to the wishbones supposed to slide about as when i took them off one side was loose and sliding about and the other was fixed.
Im refering to the loops that bolt to the lower arms, im not sure if they should slide back and forth or have the 13mm bolt done up tight to hold them in posistion?
I ask this as today ive moved the activa out of its hidy hole and its the first time its been moved or run since i done the P bushes and its sat 1 1/2" high on the drivers side, i dont want to straighten it up if ive done these links up tight when they shouldnt be and upset something, it was level untill i done the P bushes honest

Hi Dean, welcome to the wonderful world of Activa levelling

The linkage eyes have slots so that the clearance between the link rod and the ARB can be set.

have a look at the official procedure for levelling

I don't find it too helpful but it's a start and it shows how to set the clearance. Dimension "X".

Bear in mind that one the bottle-screw locknuts on each side are LH Threads!

Good luck!!!

Sounds like great fun Jim, i can hardly wait  , thanks for the guide, i had a little flick through Xac's guide too, i am tempted to leave it untill after the mot as i need to be getting on with some decorating now really, not sure how the mot tester will like the idea of a xantia leaning to the left by a noticable amount though.

They should be fixed not moving, and fixed so the arms don't foul on anything.

Thanks Xac, im glad i tightened them up properly then, the system was probably set up with them loose which threw things out a bit.
