Is it just me?

Unread post by rmunns »

I am noticing that all d's and u's on the postings have bits missing from them.

Just my 'puter?

I don't see anything amiss ? :?:

Unless a localised version of your browser is having some charset parsing issues (unlikely) not sure what to say. :)

I'm using Firefox version 3.6.15 Ubuntu canonical 1.0.

Whatever that means.

Is it possible that you are viewing websites with your browser set at anything other than 100% zoom? If you know what I mean.

I can see the problem on little u's and little d's.. I'll try the rest if you don't mind;

yes, it's just little d's and little u's.

Only on the posting, not when I type it out.

The top bit of the d is missing and there is a 'blank' line across the u, near the top.

Try zooming (CTRL++, CTRL+-) and see if there is any improvement.

Also try in the Edit menu->Preferences->Content: Default Font, mess around with that and see if it improves.

Alternatively: Applications->Ubuntu Software Centre->Internet->Browsers and install Chromium and Epiphany.

I find that Epiphany draws this forum more clearly than Firefox but Firefox is more than adequate for my needs.

The problem may be your graphics drivers. NVidia always seems to work better than anything else with Ubuntu, SIS graphics are the worst as SIS won't release the drivers or sufficient info for the Linux gang to write their own.

I wouldn't bother with the drivers yet though, nearly time for 11.04 'Natty Narwhal'
Also, Firefox 4 will be available in a few days.
