i have just replaced a pair of front springs on my freinds Picassssooooo,
firstly every thing was rustted solid, i had to run a grinder throught the pinch clamp bolt at the bottom of the shocker,
then once the shocker was seperated from the hub carrier i had to heat both sides of the pinch clamp to get the two halves of the bolt out,
also the un/sprung length of the spring requires very long spring compresors, as it needs to be compresed an aufull long way
to get the spring cap/strut top back on,
at least on a Picassssoooo anyhow,
regards malcolm

as long you give all the nuts and bolts a good soak with WD40 first it shouldnt be too hard a task just ensure the springs are clamped securely before you remove the bottom retaining nut i personally loosen all bolts etc first as the presure from the springs tends to help stop things spinning if theyre rusted on.
Yipee i have the xant lets i hope i keep her this time

Has this problem that affected many makes and models generally been resolved now?
Bad batch of coil springs seemd to be a major problem a few years ago, had one snap on my Partner van 8 years ago, but don't hear about it so much now fortunately.
