C5 key fob

Unread post by john alexander »

Hi I've just had a look inside the fob on my 06 plate 1.6 est. The outsie has three buttons but the board inside has four contacts , does anyone know what the forth ones for ? Didn't want to try it in case something went wrong.

I took my fob to bits and shorted that contact out while near the car - it did nothing.
That was a year ago and it still works.

I transferred the guts and key blade from my knackered three button C5 fob into a four button Citroen fob that I bought off Ebay. I can confirm that the extra button does nothing to my C5.

The pictograms on the two lower buttons show a door with left and right arrows so my guess is that it's from a people carrier and operates an electric opener for the sliding doors.

Talking with my son-in-law this afternoon and he said that his brother had a C8 with the four button fob. And the buttons did exactly what I thought they did.
