I have a 95 Xantia lx 1.9td. Ive jus sold my Peugeot 405 1.9td and know that the engines are almost identical (arent they) Anyway i have a spare turbo and wanted to know if this turbo which i bought for the 405 would fit the Xantia? Also ive realised theres no intercooler on the Xantia is this normal, and would it benefit from me buying one?

There is, it should be in front of the radiator behind the front grille. There should be two plastic pipes going over the top of the engine and connecting into each end of the intercooler.
I'm not sure for certain if your spare turbo will fit, but I think it probably will.

Hmm..I don't think the turbo you've got for the 405 will fit the xantia, I have a zx td and a xantia td and they both have different turbo outlets, the zx (same as 405, overhead intercooler) has a simple jubilee type pipe connection, whereas the xantia (97 model anyway) has a two bolt flange design outlet with "o" rings to make the seal.
If you look down between the branches of the intake manifold you will just see the turbo outlet pipe, if there is a bolt on either side of the pipe as on mine then it wont fit, the oulet angle is also slightly different but this should be adjustable by loosening the compressor housing clamp bolts (assuming its not pinned to the turbine housing) and rotating it to the desired angle, not much use though unless its got the same outlet pipe fitting, the turbo intake fitting is the same for both types.
