Spheres

Unread post by Xantic »

I am a little concerned from reading the feedback on my bouncy bouncy post.

I know Paul has offered to do my spheres for me but i am pushed for time at the moment and thinking of just doing the front spheres myself.. I do not want the strut tops to be damaged.

Where can i get or what can i use to undo the front spheres, I am thinking of buying them this weekend and only have Saturday to fit them as i think i am working Sunday, I have read the posts on sphere removal tools but would a good chain wrench if i can get one big enough be good enough to remove them.

If it's one that may be well tightened before you apply any leverage - then yes, it will work.

"Swing" is marginal, and self-tightening tools often don't have quite enough rotation available to take up that slack before they start to grip.

Don't forget to crack the pressure reg bleeder first. One full turn is plenty.

i own one the same as the first one on the page but it is labled Stanley 30cm chain pipe wrench,

The one I used to use (which is lying on the floor of my garage) looks a lot like an old one of these.

My dad had it from his days building oil refineries (C 1970).

£500 quid is probably a bit much to spend on one tool though.
