Question about glow plug temperature (Xantia 90Hdi)

Unread post by rmunns »

Below what outside temperature are the glow plugs activated? For how long do they remain heated?

Where do they get their temperature information from? I'm thinking of when there has been a big temperature swing, with the engine block being either much colder or much warmer than the atmosphere.

My 406 Hdi only shows the glowplug light for about a second but starts almost instantly if you just turn the key, even in that freezing weather. I don't think the glowplugs are really needed in this country, even less where you are.

Agreed, HDis rarely need the heater plugs... I never see my glow plug light, and she still starts first time, prehaps 4 turns AT MOST on the coldest of days.
