C5 just sold

Unread post by citroenesque »

I just noticed a rather smart C5 2.0 HPi Exclusive manual in dark grey metallic with under 90k on it, just sold on eBay for £570 - local-ish to me. That's less than I bought my (now sold) 2.0CT XM for. Did I miss something?

A HPi, that is why its cheap! No one wants a HPi petrol C5, petrol C5s don't sell well or for much at the best of times, you have to practically give away the petrols, but a HPi one has numerous costly problems and issues just waiting to happen.

Mainly the fuel pumps go which is a small fortune, I think more than that car sold for ...

I was warned by a Citroen specialist to stay well away from the HPi when i was looking for C5s.

So no, you didn't miss anything!

Id buy a HPi Exclusive, only if it had leather interior though, id rip it out and stick it in one of the S1s HDis 8-) Then break the rest for bits ...

I don't think I actually want a C5 (I). And I never want an HDi anything either. Just thought it was stupidly cheap! Similarly there's a 1.6 SX Picasso (2001) with not anything much wrong - if you believe the description - that is probably going to go for £700. Trouble is it's metallic purple lol!

You could do far worse than a HDi powered car! Like a DCi or TDCi

HDi's are very reliable, more economical and far nicer to drive as there is no turbo lag, earlier this week I drove my Xantia TD and found the very turbo lag/narrow power band rather frustrating after being used to the HDi which just gets up and goes.

I have had both xud & hdi, i would say HDI is best by far for econnomy & power, I think the most common problem with the Hdi is the in tank fuel pumps which anyone can change.

HDis, especially the 2.0HDi 8V, are very reliable and great engines. They are by far one of the best engines in its class. You shouldn't be scared off one.

Yes, I would think so. 2.0HDi 90 and 110s are the 8vs and are very reliable.
