Unread post by hundleton1 »

hi all i have a 2007 Berlingo that seems to be getting stuck in 5th gear, you can move up the box fine however when you try to come down from 5th you have to pull it right back towards revers then it will pop out,

any ideas ?

Hopefully its just misaligned or sticky linkage, otherwise it can only be a fault in the gearbox.

yes its still under warranty so it is booked in for next week, the AA have been out today and think its the linkage but we will see, its a bit on an odd one, i have not seen it my self yet but my engineer who uses the van says the leaver is really loose when in 5th so it does sound like a link or leaver problem

Hi- just wondering what the outcome was on this.
I have a Berlingo which I bought 2nd hand but was only 18 months old- so now about 21 months old, have just noticed exactly the symptoms mentioned above.

It gets (intermitantly) stuck in the 5th gear, you have to pull down hard and it pops out but because of the pull action it grinds slightly in reverse.
All other gears fine.

Fifth is on the 'end' , the extension housing. Well, sort of.

Look under the nearside front wheel at the tin end casing on the gearbox, if its been dented it can cause things like this.
Andy.

91 205D-Turbo, gone but still missed
02 106D, TUD5B, gone but not really missed apart from the MPG
