A sad sad sight

I nipped out from work today and on my industrial estate is a scrap yard and i was gutted to see a good looking XM on a recovery truck on its way in

.
this scrap yard does nt break the car it just crushes them,what a waste

there's one less on the roads then, i must confess there is a MK1 silver turbo hatch near where i used to live, been sat on the guys drive untaxed for years now, then when he had the house painted and roof done it vanished.......
Now its back and ive been having silly thoughts of stopping by and asking if he's selling

Breaks my heart when I see so so many decent cars going to the crusher simply because its seemingly too expensive to fix them now for most folk.

The tailgate I salvaged off a Xantia two years ago came off an X reg Hdi in seemingly good condition inside and out, was scrapped simply because the heater matrix had burst, and was deemed too expensive to replace by its owner due to the low value of it due to very high mileage.
The breaker told me this, and he agreed that he sees some dreadful waste that he can cash in on.

If i had more time & money today i would have stopped and spoken to the bloke with the recovery truck and tryed to save it.
The scrappage scheme has taken so many good vehicle of the road, I hate think how many nice xantias etc have gone, a lot of nice 1 owner cars went leaving some rubbish on the road !

That's exactly what I hear within the trade nearly every day.
The smaller garages are constantly complaing about the shortage of decent older cars to sell now.

pluss older less electrnic cars are easyer to fix/work on, as long as you can get the bits
