Robert's TD Xantia

Evening Folks,

Yesterday I bought a nice little 1995 1.9TD VSX Xantia. The price was right, and it has only done 101K miles. Shes in quite good shape for her age. I'm going to use it until spring before I put the blue Xm back on the road for the summer. That is unless I can find another Xm to buy in the meantime.

Looks great, lovely colour and the interior trim matches very nicely too, VSX spec is a bonus, hydractive!

Looks to be a nice find, low mileage, nice colour and great spec. Im not jealous, much!

Whats wrong with your blue Xm Robert? Or do you just hibernate it during winter?

Whats that silver Xm over there? You've had/have so many I lose track.

That must be your 2000 VSX?

Thought you were now an impoverished student too...

Yeah, I want to keep it out of the salt, plus I have let the MOT lapse.

Student loans are a great thing!!!

Buying this Xantia is a means for me to save money when commuting to Uni in February. The TCT Prestige isn't suitable for a 60 mile daily commute. Its fine for the 6 miles I do daily now.

Unfortunately my wanted requests have also been fruitless.

There must be a fair few Xms in Ireland to allow you to have had and have so many?

My Uni commute has started again too, 75 mile round trip 3 days a week. Then 30 mile round trip to work 3 days a week. Not a huge mileage but together with my social driving i average 16-18K minimum per year. So i can see why a TCT would be an expensive every day runner for such miles.

Ive often thought about getting a diesel auto for my commute, as i spend 40 minutes each way edging inch by inch into Newcastle city centre, as i have to travel in for 9.00.

The diesel auto is the best for commuting. Even though I'm breaking this rule with a manual, but the extra 5mpg on a limited budget is worthwhile. I only have to go to Uni for February, and then I'll hopefully be placed in a local school again. So back into the TCT (if I still have it) or the auto TD.

Hi Folks,

Just an update on my Xantia, after a nice spell of weather this weekend, she got the long deserved polish she has been crying out for. A few weekends previous, I valeted the interior, and it no longer smells like an ashtray. Re-gassing the spheres on the car, and replacing the burst hydractive spheres and accumulator have made the biggest transformation to the car. All thats left to do now is fit a timing belt kit, water pump, new front discs and pads and I'll call it quits there.

It has been a nice little car to own, and will be moving to pastures new shortly.

Robert has caught that one in the picture perfectly. It looks like it's about to pounce on something....

It's very tidy. Someone will be very happy with it...
