xsara blower failure

Unread post by grizzley »

I have a xsara 2000, it has A/C and have a problem with a blower as it works on maximum all the time. I can't control it at all. It is like that since I changed a battery. I changed the control panel, but it didn't help. Can you give me a clue what could go wrong? Thank you very much

My 2001 Xsara did exactly the same thing but healed itself after a few months.

Might be an idea to get the aircon read by a Lexia and see if that throws up anything.

It is going for two months now and i don't really want to wait for a miracle :) It was alright cos we had quite a cold winter, but these days it's becoming annoying. I am off to scrap yard and will try to find a resistor as i read that might be the cause. What do you think about that?

Yes quite likely, do you know were they are???

On the blower motor, under the passenger side of the dash, 3 cross head screws, drop it down... Only on air con cars..

As said, Xantia ones with air con are the same..

Thanks citroenxm. Yes i found the blower and i did unscrew it, but that was as far as i got. Don't have any gadget to read the current. I hope it will be the resistor and i'll let you know whether it resolved or not the problem.

It was a resistor failure. Got one from scrapyard and blower works as it should again.

The blower motor is below glove department. You need to undo the cover (carpet material) holds on three screws and you will see the blower, it is awkward to get underneath as the access isn't the best. That's the link to explain better, and you can see the resistor too.
