I got a dealer price for swapping a HDi to the ACTIVA ... 2000!!!! and that's a cash price. he thinks I'll need to take the dash off and take the whole wiring loom and swap them - no more keypad :(
He has no idea about the pump bing in the same place and if it's going to be an issue to connect the pipes. Since I don't have a four post lift ... may have to pay this if I want it down right.

He does not reckon i should make a normal XANTIA into an ACTIVA ... thinks it is harder and not worth the hassle. Beside it won't be an activa on the reg cert.

On a side note .. i'm looking at a 2.0HDi car (for parts) today. It has fire damage so it won't be a waste of a car :)

Maybe an easier cheaper way of conversion for the Activa:

But i won't have space with the intel inside sticker :)

Turns out that people do not understand the difference between 110 and 90. HDi was the wrong one .. so waste of a trip ....

The quest continues ...

I'd go for a 2.1TD conversion if you're not going to sort the original engine.

The 2.1TD XUD11 and the 2.0TCT XU10 are so similar that mechanically the job is straightforward.

I too love a 2.1TD. Simple, powerful and not a lot to go wrong. Just don't try running it on veg if you use an EPIC pump. They don't like it up 'em...

I must beg to differ on the subject of the Alfa V6.

I've owned a 166, and I agree with addo. The Busso V6 (not the later GM derived rubbish) has to be one of the best sounding Vs ever.

Also, they are the same with every other engine, look after them and they will serve you well. I personally do not think they are any worse than a variety of other manufacturers.

I do miss that 166... :miserable:

That's true, take care of them and they last ... but just from experience in Ireland ... nobody takes car of them .... there are several sold in excellent condition, only 50K miles .... just that the need a new engine

But could i actually fit it in easily enough (i won't coz of road tax though)?
why?

I agree! I nearly fell head over heels in love with your old 166 Toby, and that was just from the sound of it...

Fingers crossed that the delivery guy hasn't goosed that head

I have both fogs and surrounds admit was another job on my list :-)

For engines I'd vote for a 2.1td with bosch pump for veg use and easy tuning :-)
Or the 3.0l V6 HDi unit :-D lots of power!

could have thrown them in :(

2.1TD is worse for me for a road tax point of view ... and from what i've read and been told worse compared to the 2.0HDi .... the dealer did say that it might be easier to get a 2.1TD though.

How much more is it to tax the 2.1 over the 2.0?

The ROI tax system is bad. I'm never going to complain about ours ever again!

How does the ROI tax system work then? It must be terrible if it makes the UK one look reasonable...

Engine size rape
1901 - 2000 614
2001 - 2100 784
2101 - 2200 823
2201 - 2300 860
2301 - 2400 895
2401 - 2500 935
2501 - 2600 1120
2601 - 2700 1164
2701 - 2800 1204
2801 - 2900 1248
2901 - 3000 1293
3001 - 15000 1566

True that is euro, but 2.0 - 2.1 = 170 extra!!!

A 3.0 is twice a 2.0 ... madness!! it just stops the 'common' people from owning big cars even if they bought the insurance.

Good grief! That is punitive

I sure could never afford to run one V6 let alone two

Makes ours look very reasonable and restrained...
