MOT and Service Indicator Light.

Hi, guys tries searching google but could not find answer to this.

Can they fail your MOT if the service indicator on your dash is on?

By that i mean something like: Service overdue by x amount of miles/days.

Not to be confused with dash error indicators like STOP light.

The reason i am asking is when a car's warranty period run's out most people go to local garages or change stuff like oil themselves, and sometimes they do not have the equipment/knowledge to reset the service indicator.

Can MOT inspection fail you for having this indicator on?

No I have never heard of a car faling an mot with the service light on.

No, I'm sure it's not an MOT fail. I don't know if it'll work for you, but with the Xantia, you hold the reset trip button down then turn on the ignition while still holding the reset. Eventually, it'll starting counting down from 10 after which the service counter is reset. Check your handbook, it should be instructed in there if it's available on your car.

You won't need any equipment for your C5. Follow Mike's instructions and it'll work.

thanks guys, i though they cant but just wanted to make sure. its not for my c5 i dont give a **** if that little spanner is on its harmless but friends car is more obvious it comes up with big message on dash tft screen that service is overdue so dont want to mislead someone.
