Hey folks.... Well, stumbled across this site as I researched solve-it's for my 3 strokes of bad luck...... throttle cable, bonnet catch, no cold start....

any ways, after ankle biter number 2 appeared the need for a family estate arrived... so wife bought a Vectra.... on the way home from buying it it blew up, so i fitted a new engine..... 8 months later... BOOM.....

So in haste I needed a car for work....... and I spotted the xantia on fleabay.....

95 VSX estate, 19td with bosch pump, 1 months tax, 11 months mot, won for £250.....

I feared it would be a heap... but until yesterday it's been pretty damn good for a car with 198000mls on the wrinkle counter...

here's a piccie... i've branded him ecto1....

took it from the doorstep as its just started raining.... oh, and its in service high as i was topping up the lmf....

anyways, here's to asking a thousand questions and hopefully providing some answers too!!!

Hey there.Thanks for the warm welcome!... I'll keep it on the road, best I can, need it to haul 2 kids around by day and the band gear around by night!!! he's started sagging at the front overnight now though.... nuts... :roll:

That may be a leaking ram. You won't see any pools of oil under the car as they are designed to leak and the leakage returned to the LHM reservoir.
If the seals are worn then the leakage can become excessive and cause the car to sink overnight.

There are other things that could cause the same problem - the anti-sink valves being weakened or inoperative.

Lots of info on these subjects on the forum though and they are not that hard to remedy.

If you haven't already seen it, look in this thread as a primer to working on the hydraulics.

And this can't be repeated too often. DON'T go under an unsupported hydraulic citroen, especially when inspecting/testing/repairing any part of the hydraulic system.

250 quid??? with 11 months mot..and looking tidy! 8-)

I thought I had a bargain with my 200 quider..albeit needing a bit of clutch work and an mot..Still, goes to show what you can pick up for small poundage now :P

very apt I thought as they're full of this green shizz :lol:

Hey chaps. Cheers for the replies. Sorry it's taken me yonkers to write back, Christmas was, shall we say, MENTAL!!!!!! still, at least the xant still goes....... albeit with a knackered heater matrix, squeeky gear linkage no door locks and a dead battery or two!!!! lol....

oh yeah, and the bootlid tried to kill me.....

I'll get there, I hope..... :roll:
