Citroen ZX td on a K plate.
could someone please tell me the correct name for this part.
I think it may be called a Engine mount * i think *
Its 2 Rubber gromits which encase a bolt which is underneath an inverted "U" type metal bracket, which is directly to the left hand side of the timing belt casing.
I think this grommit prvents the engine from vibrating to much, which i am getting at the moment *Shuddering* when the car is ticking over/ sitting stationary ?
Thanks
Tom

Hi Robin,
its done a fair amount of miles 144000, but i am pretty sure its an engine mount, as i recently had a head gasket replaced, and when i got the car back, one of the two rubber sections was missing, and there was absolutely no sign of this problem b4 i got the guy to do it. but i will bear your other comments in mind
Out Of interest, any idea how much the cost of buying this part is

Tom, sorry I cannot give you a figure but have a look at GSF incase they can help. I would be tempted to go back to the garage who replaced the head gasket and read the riot act to them. It was OK when it went in so it should be OK when it came out!
What was the reason for having the head gasket done anyway?

It never went into a garage, it was a friend of a friend that did it, but he honestly done me a favour. i actually had to get a head gasket and a timing belt, and garages were quoting me £350 - £400, but a managed to get a young chap who did the entire works including parts for £130.00, and he said that he would also repair the shudder for free (that why i was making enquiries about the Engine mount ) so it not that bad,
The reason i had it done was that, i was in a minor bump at christmas and later on developed a tremendous oil leak, and also the oil got onto the belt so i didnt want that to get corroaded. Had it checked out and it was the Head gasket.
the only trouble am having now is that i cant get the heater to heat up in the car. the blower is working ok, but i have been told that oil may have got into the matrix and clogged it up. before i new that i replaced the thermostat, but that didnt do any difference, and there is also no leak or smell from the matrix inside the car. i am actually trying how to find out how to do a complete engine flush ( i have already flushed the radiator, but not with the thermostat out, and i dont know were to locate the bolt on your engine that i could flush out all the crap from, any idea ?.
Or please if you can think of anything else that may lead me to find out why the heater is not working i would greatly appreciate it

Hi Tom
Are you sure you have bled the cooling system properly? If not, you could soon eat another head gasket. Was the head skimmed while it was off?
When it has warmed up, feel the temperature of both heater hoses - if one is much cooler than the other either the matrix is blocked or the valve is not opening.
It is probably just an airlock which you will remove by bleeding.
BTW - there is no metal in a cambelt - it cannot corrode

Hi, i have only really flushed the radiator, i havent bled the system as honsetly i was looking for some advice as to
1 how to properly bleed the system
2 do a engine flush.
i really would like a go at doing it myself to cut down on costs.
i havent done the feel the hoses yes, will do that tommorrow.
The only thing that i can add is, that the heater stopped warming up before i was getting this problem with the head gasket, but now i was thinking this was caused by oil from the engine getting in to the system and clogging the matrix?

Just to add again, when you mention"feel the temperature of both heater hoses " i assume that you mean the hoses that go into the bulkhead ?
Also you said *BTW - there is no metal in a cambelt - it cannot corrode*
i was not talking about the cam belt, was speaking about the Timing belt, Sorry if i confused you on this

Hi Welshy
Yes - heater hoses where they go through the bulkhead to inside the car.
Cambelt = timing belt = toothed reinforced rubber thingy = invention of the devil. Still no metal in it!!
Don't worry - I am always confused when I read forum posts, and ebay descriptions.
Maybe I am always confused, period [}:)][}:)]

Welshy, if you do anything on the cooling system with the Xantia it always pays to check the bleed screws to ensure the full circulation of the wet stuff continues. There is a good section on bleeding the system in the owners handbook.
I love the descriptions we all give parts and equipment! I have heard some good ones over the years and feel that if I could remember them, it's me age you know, (even found myself wearing my cap behind the wheel too!) it would be a good book for anoraks. My best one is the 'environmental awareness panel' detailed in an American specification I once worked with. It was the cabin roof hatch or sun roof to you and I[:)]
