Fuel economy on a 407 2.0 hdi???

I did this on my return journey from Malaga. 1375 miles in all. Three fills. From brim to brim consumption worked out at 47.47mpg. The computer showed 48.1mpg

My Dad has a 2.0 manual 143hp petrol 407 and that gets 37-40 mpg.
I'd expect a diseasel, auto or not, to get more than that.

With careful driving the 2.0HDi can be very fuel efficient. Though they obviously dont like auto boxes.
Recently bought a 406 Estate 2.0 HDi 110 with 4sp auto box. Averaging 45.56 MPG (6.2L/100km). Brim-to-brim method and computer give same consumption figures. Keep Michelin XM1+ tyres at 40psi. Nearest traffic lights are 400kms from here. :D

I live in a rural area with not to much traffic and I avoid towns like the plague, I also don't drive very fast, my average is just under 50 mpg with 60+ driven carefully on a run - it will do me :D

I run my tyres a little under inflated as after the XM the ride feels very hard :(
