ZX volcane TD driveshaft

Unread post by ohms69 »

My brothers TD volcane has developed a rumbling that I think is the near side driveshaft on the way out.
Is there any way of testing to be 100% sure before I start pulling it apart?[;)]

Yes -
Be sure to interpret the noise pattern correct [8)]
A rumbling noise is most likely caused by a bearing - often (but not always [:(]) it can be felt thru the tyre when slowly spinning the wheel by hand off ground - a rough feeling.
- a worn CV joint would emit a knocking/thumping sound following the road speed - rarely this can be seen/detected with wheels off ground.
Check the OBVIOUS first :

another good way of testing a cv joint is to put car on full lock and go in circles at slow speeds. if you get a knocking it is likley to be the cv joint.
go in both directions.
