I used to use Total Quartz 9000 also but now use an unbranded oil to the same spec at half the price.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

In the 405 I'm still working my way through a massive pile of Asda Diesel 15w-40 that I picked up for 50ppl out of their bargain bin. Supplied by Halfords, so decent stuff, changed every 3,000. In the Clio it's Fuchs/Silkolene 5w-40 Pro S, £42 for 5L

1) Total Quartz 9000 5W-40 for the C5 (much cheaper off eBay for last 3 years but I bet the supply will dry up eventually)

2) Any 15W-40 for the van (but changed more frequently)

Wilkinsons did a "synthetic fortified" 15W-40 diesel up until recently, which could be bought in 1L for peanuts. I did use that for a few months in the C15 but they've stopped doing it.

Usually the cheapest semi-synthetic 10W40 i can get hold of
Often Motaquip, but used Comma this time.

I change it every 6 months, and I don't do very many miles in that time. So methinks I get away with it.

Although I wish I could afford to bung some Mobil-1 in there, curse this student life.

Since going diesel in the early '90s, my BX DTR Turbo, and now my Xantia TD, have always had Millers XFE semi-synthetic whilst in my ownership.

Present Miller XFE spec is semi-synthetic 10w 40. IIRC last 5L cost me just under £20

The cheapest I can get with the correct spec, currently from Trago Mills at about £9.50. Change it every 5k

Unipart 5 - 40 Diesel fully systhetic from THE RANGE about £18.00 for 5 litres when I last bought some. I am lead to believe that this is FUCHS Titan.
