ZX Paint code location
Hi all, this is my first post so its probably in the wrong location so apologies if it is. I have a '92 J plate zx 1.9D avantage and I need to buy some paint for it. I have no idea what the colour code is or where to find it. I have found the VIN plate and chassis number but have no idea where the colour code is. Any clues would be greatly appreciated, many thanks, Nige.

Did you check under the bonnet, on the body panel and left side of the car?
Close to the suspension end, there should be letters.
If there're altogether 5 letters (like in Xantia) then first 3 would be enough to identify the paint code.

I'd agree it should be on the inner wing or possibly on the suspension turret visible after opening the bonnet.
Another location is on the drivers door (either where the hinges are on the a pillar area, or on the catch part) or on the b post (where the door shuts to), typically it will be a sticker in this case with the tyre pressures on it or nearby too.
As you said its a J plate, what colour is it ? , a picture may help too, as I bet we can at least narrow it right down for you armed with the year...

Thanks for the replies. Inner wing? are we talking about the nearside or offside?. I have had a good look around though and cant see anything. Certainly there is nothing around the suspension end.
The car is a dark green similar to British racing green and has a slight metallic look.

Will have another look tomorrow and take some photos of what I find.
Thanks again.

That's it, thanks spiderspider wrote:... possibly on the suspension turret visible after opening the bonnet ...
The color should be on the near side suspension turret, capital letters (usually with white paint).

Edit,
I found out these possible Green color options for ZX in a french document:
ERTbR --> Vert Triton (metallic)
ESAbR --> Vert Mer (opaque)
ERYbR --> Vert Vega (pearl)
--- *** ***

Vert vega, when you said white paint I remembered seeing something stamped near to the suspension turret but these are in yellow paint and they were not letters but numbers 5464. There might be some missing as I could only just make out the last number 4.
Thats all I can find but thanks for help so far. If I went to a Citroen dealer with the reg number, would they be able to bring it up on some sort of database?

5464 is your RP number. The paint code should be there too but, as you say, has probably faded off. Citroen do have a database but if you would like, PM me the last 8 digits of your VIN and I can find out the paint code.

Yes, that's the VIN number which starts like VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]...nigedvd wrote:is that the last 8 digits from the long number which is stamped on the vin plate? Many thanks.
Actually all those letters and numbers have a meaning :
V = Europe
F = France
7 = Citroën

ZX Paint code location, I hope this helps until you get the helpnigedvd wrote:... The 4 digit code is 6B6G and it is stamped in. Toby I have pm you the code as well,hopefully you can find the colour for me. ...
In this case ETW is enough to identify the paint code. Unfortunately 6B6G is not a Citroen paint code

If you provide your VIN (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff) I may be able to provide the correct code.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.
