I found one, last nightandmcit wrote: Which reminds me, as has been said already, the ultimate sports Xantia

It's worth hanging out for one as they can't half go and their clever auto
adaptive gearbox suits the engine so well you'll get decent fuel consumption
too. Just try and find one first though...

Do the Exclusive and VSX models have Activa suspension??

After driving nothing but an Activa for over a year, I got pretty amazed entering a corner in a C3... or perhaps scared is the proper termCitroJim wrote:The driving experience is unique and special. You feel the car should roll into a corner and then amazes you that it stays completely level

I have to agree with the light throttle issue, i managed nearly 400miles from one tank and recall this, sluggish-ness issue a few times.
Saying that i loved hooning around the country roads where i live as it was just amazing how much speed it carried round the corners, probably the only way it recoups some mpg point to be honest! but on just 205 width tyres it amazed me and still does to this day how good a car it was.
Just be ready for first name terms with the local petrol station owner...
Even rachels SSS feels a bit rolly compared to the activa when it was alive.
I have also driven the a 'bad un' as Jim says, this one rolled in the corners and had been really abused as the engine was even lathargic...
Get one where the hydraulics are good and as long as you can repair the engine you should be onto a winner as some have blown engines(like mine) and could do with a lovely 2.1td or 2.2hdi transfer

To be fair KP there wasnt much wrong with the engine is yours and i believe running it with no water is what killed it, made the engine run hot and running the big ends out. With no water that heat gets transferred to the oil and you were unlucky it happened instead of just the HG going and warping the head.
I never noticed any light throttle issues on my old S2. It does have a different set up to the S1.
A good Activa will perform well too, a good service, nipping the throttle cable up (they have mega slack) and running on super unleaded, they go fine, no sports car though. When you up the boost, you get a bit more fun to match the handling, which is what i did. And it was great fun overall and had no problems showing 325ci's a clean pair of heels thanks to a ton of mid range torque.

Just what happens when the rad gets a crack in it and at the same time the matrix stops weeping and just blows out while on the motorway in a small section with no hard shoulder and stuck in traffic for a few minutes before you can pull off. You live and learn and if it ever happens to another car i'll practice some start-stop engine technology on it

Standard Xantias aren't like sailing ships in terms of handling. At least my old 1.9 TurboD SX wasn't. With 6 spheres it handled quite well and was a nice ride too.
If I were to get another Xantia I'd go for a 2.0 Hdi 110 SX and fit a tuning box. The SX suspension is '6 sphere' simple and more than adequate and easy to live with.

One of the postings here seems to suggest that non-UK Activae are available in more models.
Can anyone please elaborate? I'm in France and keen to drive one before deciding.
So what models might I find with activa suspension and are there any identifications on the bodywork? Any estate versions? (particularly interesting to me).

No estate Activas, unless someone's done a custom job.
Pretty sure they were available in 2.1TD then replaced by the 110HDi, 2.0TCT and 3.0l V6

Indeed there was..rmunns wrote:One of the postings here seems to suggest that non-UK Activae are available in more models.
HDI, 2.1TD, 2.0TCT (same as we have in the UK), V6 and 16 Soupages (valve)
The last engine I'm not 100% sure what it was but I expect it was the 155BHP XU10J4RS.. I'd like to try one of those and I bet they're quite good.

I saw a few HDI Activas in France last year, id have liked to bring one back home with me, that would be a very nice daily car for me. Its a shame we didnt get the full Activa range in the UK.
