Aussiefrogs in dire straights

Unread post by UFO »

Hello all, a loooooooooooong time since I've been here.

Anyone who is an Aussiefrogs user should be aware that the server and backup server that host AF had a serious config issue late last night. It is looking seriously terminal.

All attempts are being made to rescue it from the waste of 1s and 0s, but it looks bad.

Keep your fingers and hydraulics pipes crossed for the admins. :(

In the meantime you might see a rush of Aussies and others on FCF a bit more than usual.

That tallies with stories on the grapevine. Oh no! My post count!

Do you realise how many extra paid hours I had to do today, with no AussieFrogs?

Postscripts:1. Will this be noted on Whirlpool as a contributor to forthcoming email server meltdowns? 2. Straights or straits? :P 3. Who's going to feed the Seagull?

Don’t mind coincidences, but not too many.
Last month, the place was up for sale without selling.
Now, crash and back-up crash with foregone conclusion.

Adam, don’t understand the seagull feeding. :?: :?

If you can get the discs to be recognised by a mainboard i would invest in a copy of spinrite from GRC.com and set it running on the discs :)

Works a treat for me and great for data recovery :)

Noticed that Aussiefrogs looked terminal. There are some serious virus going around. One took another site I go to also.

Lets hope the gods are looking down on Aussiefrogs and we get back into our pond soon?

This is precisely why Xac and I are so diligent with backups of this forum...

Both of us back up every morning and even if everything goes tilt big-time we can get it back up again with less than 24 hours loss of traffic.

The only really fatal thing for the forum would be if Xac and I were hit simultaneously..

Hope Aussiefrogs recovers and that the admins have good backups...

Indeed, we actually have 4 copies of the database and 2 copies of the servers, which may increase to 3 if my media laptop is up to the job of being a hot standby.

Oh dear sorry to hear the news about Aussiefrogs!

Hope it gets back on line!

Also a big thankyou to Citrojim & Xac for their efforts to keep the FCF online! 8-)

It's a full time job, when the hampster that powers it gets tired, Jim and I have to take turns on the treadmill ;)

Coincidences are funny things. I know exactly where you're coming from, Cloggz, but for now I will accept it as the outcome of an administrator spread too thin. Presumed "guilt" is a concept I'm not comfortable with.
...don’t understand the seagull feeding. :?: :?
You know that fellow who wasn't quite right and for a while was responding to almost every single post - often in a slightly argumentative manner? Someone (Ron B?) nicknamed him the Seagull because he was constantly hanging around, wanting someone to throw him a tidbit.

LN crew?
I have some LN(A)/2CV air and oil filters in my stash if you want them?

Poor old Aussie Frogs, Alan S would not be pleased  It redirects to a completely unrelated aussie website :(
