IF it is saveable (and as said it looks borderline to me) and you need some 2.1td bits let me know as i have one that will be being stripped and if it keeps an activa alive then i'll gladly help out.

will the roll control rams be going to the person who is best at kissing your feet or will it just be the large amounts of money needed

it would be fixable with another scrap car but when activa's go for under 1k whats the point i guess, easier to just sell yours for bits then scrap the rest and go buy another one, never mind at least its an excuse to buy another car (too soon?)

as said Dommo, twice I have done all of the front end of my S2

its just plastic and a couple of lights etc..rads, bonnet, plus in your case wings..
the metal cross frame isn't much really.. essentially the whole front is plastic! except that cross member..

but there are crumple zones and they can be an issue..

take it all apart and get some pics before you really condemn it..

S595 FVC. Few weeks ago someone posted a link with S583 FVC. Mine is S589 FVC. All are the same colour

That would be a major repair; even here where an Activa is worth about five times the UK price - nobody would attempt it unless there were strong sentimental reasons to back it up. You'll find the front floor lightly buckled and the passenger door probably stiff.

Having said that, I think complete inner frame sections (firewall to bumper mount) are still available for S2 cars.

Dommo, can you comment on tyre brand, pressure and tread depth? I don't want you compromising any insurance matters if it would be unwise to say anything.

Just sticking with addos quiestion ...

I do often wonder how many accidents could be avoided had a high quality branded tyre of been fitted. Especially in damp, dismal conditions they could possibly save the driver and the car, in my opinion. I usually find cheap tyres terrible in the wet, slipping and sliding at moderate speeds, poor performance under braking etc. Silica is what is needed in a good tyres which performs well in the wet, cheap tyres have a poorer rubber compund and ddont offer grip as some higher branded tyres. It stands to reason that good tyres which offer far more grip would be more controllable in a tricky situation and could well keep you out of trouble.

You may well have good tyres on there and if not it may well have been a similar situation if you did, but i bet good tyres could have saved a fair few crashes.

Also interested to hear what tyres you had.

My van has been lethal recently, and it has top line Michelin Agilis 81 M+S tyres with 4mm of tread left, and it just spins up in 3rd coming out of corners in the wet.

Could well of been diesel on the roads. There isnt much you can do is this situation, its like ice.

Today my neck feels stiff, but I put that down to going out last night more than the crash.

Todays jobs were to get the VSX finished so I can actually get to work on monday! We fitted the better condition strut tops from Dave and I swapped the insurance over from the Activa to the VSX, only £50 cheaper for the last 7 or so months, which I thought was a bit tight as there's quite a performance drop! However the running costs will be much less so I can't complain.

Tomorrows jobs are to try and figure out why the VSX brakes are so awful, do Activa front brakes (and the handbrake setup?) fit onto VSX's easily enough? Once that is done I'll be taking stuff off the Activa to properly assess the damage, but it does look pretty ruined unfortunatly. I'll take some decent quality photos tomorrow with my brothers camera, but for now, this (sort of) shows the extent of the engine bay intrusion!

And regarding the tyres, they weren't good tyres by any means, but they had at least 50% of their tread depth left I reckon, far far far from illegal - not that running a barely legal tyre is a sensible idea, I'm not saying that! I had a set of run flat Goodyear Eagle F1's that I was going to put on once I'd got the VSX on the road, ie - this coming week

Domo, I think you will find the brake discs, pads and calipers are the same between the Activa and the VSX.

If you are getting poor braking performance, it may be worth changing the accumulator sphere and vacuum bleeding the front calipers. Due to the design and shape of the calipers, it is possible to retain a small pocket of air/gas in the chamber. Normal bleeding does not get rid of this.

Shame about your car.

With reference to the Activas on Autotrader, the late Mk1 with the ****RKV registration is one of the cars registered by Citroen UK. It was a sideways move by many car makers in the UK to get around duties payable on new cars and to support a flagging car market at the time. F**d and G* saved themselves fortunes by this 'little' dodge. It meant car makers could offer a new car at a secondhand price, not pay all the duties due and still make a profit.
