time to get rid......

Unread post by deano1970 »

thanks for the info on my fans not working.if they are going to cost me £100 each plus labour for fitting,i think it's time for the old girl to go.....wish I hadnt just had 6 new spheres and a bracket on the back.,and a flaming new pump in the tank......got to draw the line somewhere....far too expensive to maintain once things start to go wrong.I have always had xantias but think sadly it's gonna be time for a change..........

Didn't see your original thread but its very unlikely that both fans have failed much more likely that its a sensor fault.

Must be a working pair second hand for a fraction of the price Dean.
Have you checked eBay and scrapyards - lots of yards are online these days.

Please post any useful advice on resolving the fan issue in the original thread here http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=32383

Deano, are you definitely giving up and selling or are you going to give the car one more go?

Let me know as I'll either lock this thread if you're not selling, or move it to the for sale section if you are (and tidy it up for you).

agree with Steve Deano, fans will cost about £30 second hand.. (if they prove to be the problem)

If i had a pound for every time i thought about selling my car due to a new and possibly expecsive issue its thought up i would have a small fortune, however still no were near enough to pay for its repairs! My car costs me a fortune, infact ive realised ive spent way more on repairs for this, my second C5, than my first C5 cost my to purchase. Still, it sometimes gets me around without hassle ...

The fans didnt work on our Xm, it was just a switch had gone and was very cheap to buy and easy to replace.

I think the relevant phrase here is "Better the devil you know" If I ever sold RUNN, I would loose a good chunk of money but its a known quantity. Everyone sells a car for a reason.

Deano where are you located.

Have recently replaced one of my fans on the 2.1 TD and although not a difficult job it is a bit fiddly and time consuming.
More than happy to have a look at it if you are anywhere near me

A simple question to answer i hope :)

Do the HDis have the same brown plug for the coolant/fans that the 1.9td have

If so where is it located

Okay so i didnt do my research properly

I now know that they dont have a brown plug sensor but i do believe that there is a blue plug connector on the thermostat housing so anyone have a picture showing a HDi engine bay and the location of the blue plug :)
