The saga continues! :(

I made the call to the DVLA and spoke to a young lady, explaining everything that had gone on. She would not be moved however and insisted that the only way to get my logbook was to cough up £25. So I filled out another application form and sent it off with a cheque enclosed. That was eventually cashed on the 17th of August. Yesterday evening I arrived home from work to find a rather large ominous looking envelope from DVLA. On the enclosed letter was some obscure registration number and a request to supply the registration number and vin number from my car!!

What are these people on?!! The bloody tax ran out yesterday so I can't even drive the thing now! Six months this has been going on! Luckily for me my son went to Florida this morning for a couple of weeks so I am using his car. I hope they shake themselves because in two weeks time I will be using taxi's. :taz:

Did you send off your part or did you rely on the dealer to do it for you? If the dealer did it did you ever see the V5?

I'm beginning to suspect this story is going to have an unhappy ending.

Yes everything was in order. I sent the paperwork myself and did see the genuine V5. Amazingly, when I got home tonight there was another letter from DVLA!

They have now confirmed that I am no longer the registered owner of the Fiat Multipla that I p/x'd for the Scenic. Now surely that has to be a step in the right direction. Hopefully they might even confirm that I AM the registered owner of a 1.5dci Renault Scenic anytime soon, but don't hold your breath!

At long long last. The new V5 arrived today. I am now legal and back on the road!

The chap in the post office was saying it happens all the time. He also mentioned the amount of people who tax their car online (like me) and don't receive the tax disc. They then have to pay £10 to obtain a duplicate! I think I will be taxing mine in person at the post office in future.

Taxed mine online since they introduced the option and never had a problem.

About time they did away with the paper disc anyway, it isn't used for law enforcement apart from the offence of failing to display one.

It's all done by computer, if the DVLA computer says you are not taxed then you are not taxed.... and we all know how often the DVLA computer is right.
