Xantia 2.0 CT Dipstick

Post by ACTIVE8 »

I had found that previously that the dipstick didn't fit too well due to the top yellow part getting older, and not staying secure.

Well the other day I went to check it, and the plastic broke apart, so now I had to renew it.

I ordered one from the main stealer, and was very pleased with it, as it was now a good secure fit in the dipstick tube.

Although I saved the best bit for last, because it only cost approx £5.00.

The part no is 1174.22

Note using one from a scrap yard was not an option, as they could also have aged, and crumbled away.

So, if you have problems with your dipstick (the one in the engine bay, & not the other things, or people that spring to mind )

Then change your dipstick it was a main stealer purchase for me that was a very pleasant surprise for its good value, not something you normally get from a main stealer!

Although slightly off topic (and on topic) , the later TU engine's (from memory post 2001) with the all plastic dipsticks have a nasty habit of snapping off sometimes too.

The point being, again these are cheap new from the dealer. :)

When being 'disturbed' two of mine have simply crumbled into many pieces
on the yellow handle leaving the metal dipstick itself to fend off any crap
dropping directly into the sump - thanks for the posting ACTIVE8 as I NEVER
thought it'd be worth talking to Citroen for new ones...

All the yellow plastic melts, as mine was doing, until there was only the metal left.

Prior to having to change the dipstick, it had the habit of, with not being too secure, of coming up out of its tube.

If I had been aware of the bargain price (from the main stealer), and how much more secure a new one is in the tube, I would have been down to the main stealer sooner!
