hi chaps heres one you will probably be able to solve. my xantia 2.0l t estate wont lift up at the back and the brakes dont work unless you press hard then they work too well ! working it feels only on the front the car has hydractive suspension. the car hasnt lifted up properly since i got it really slow to lift sinks when engine off and didnt lift right up the reason why it wont work at all now is because iv had the front jacked up today working on another problem cheers chaps

From your original description, I think you have a system pressure problem, and maybe the rear isn't rising due to the anti-sink valve remaining closed.
The front brakes do most of the work, so I can't see any problem with the rear suspension causing a noticeable lack of brakes.
Does the "stop" light go out normally after starting the engine?

No back brakes can also be due to the corrosion build up between the calipers and the arms, pushing the calipers off track enough that they prevent the pads working on the discs.

finally managed to bleed brakes back brakes now working but now the rear suspension is stuck at full height the height corrector fitted is a known working one and the linkage appears to have been put together properly just want to make sure about the height corrector pipes there are 2 side by side i take it that the rear pipe goes into the rear hole and the front pipe goes into the front hole and they are not supposed to be crossed

No, they should not be crossed. Itr should be fairly obvious by their "lay" which goes to which port. If need be, I'm sure one of our members can take a look under theirs and confirm. I can't as all mine are hydractive and different in their pipe layouts.
If the HC to ARB clamp extension (the bit where the white link attaches) has been badly bent, that can also account for it. The rannge of movement is so small on the HC that a bit of distortion can make all the difference. I had this with my Sliver Activa. It was always on the ground it it was all because the whole HC mechanism was so far out of adjustment. This can happen if something gest bent for whatever reason.
