Xantia stick or twist

Unread post by NAM »

Hi Richard - hope the Xant is still going well. I am a bit late with the thread but having spent quite a bit of hard earned on mine and more coming I fully understand the question. At least you are able to do the work yourself - I end up paying for a local specialist to do the work. :(

I usually justify the expense on the basis that it is wear and tear - you can't drive 155K and expect things to work perfectly. If you buy a new vehicle you have to remember depreciation - often gets overlooked!

Don't think there is a cheap way of running a car and Xants are pretty useful and versatile. So I will keep it going for a while and hope yours is now running like a dream. :)

Hi Nigel,

It's still running - with most of the faults still present!

It passed its MOT without needing anything. 8-) New front tyres went on. The exhaust got fixed last week  The screen is still chipped, the alternator's still whining, the LHM, fuel filter, and cambelt are still outstanding

We're off on holiday week after next, but after that I really think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and do the belt and alternator. Probably stick in a LHM and fuel filter change at the same time.

I actually vacuumed it out today in advance of our holiday - it looked like a builder's van inside.

I do really like it though - it is fast moving to the position of best car ahead of my first BX TD - if it goes another 20k without trouble it will be for sure!
