I'm in two minds. Fair enough if it was deemed for the scrapyard but another thing entirely if there was nothing wrong with it. Why couldn't they use a Volvo or something? Plenty of them about!
I shall still be watching it though, which kind of stamps my fire out.

At one point today I thought I would have never watched it after nearly being electrocuted in the shower this morning. Due to the circumstances, it didn't click until lunchtime that I made a lucky escape

IIRC this was on ebay earlier in the year from an enthusiast owner and went
for little money and I very nearly bid on it myself were it not for difficult
personal circumstances. I guess what folk decide to do with things they buy
is their business but to see it p!ssed away the way it was in a purely laddish
cheap laughs slapstick Benny Hill styley when I'm struggling to find a decent
windscreen, radiator and bioptic headlights for mine boils the blood somewhat
- especially considering mine has been vandalised and now needs these items
to run again - OK, it needed a decent rad before which is why it went off the
road into storage.

I get the impression there'd be long faces a mile a long on this forum had this
been an Xm or heaven forbid a Xantia. Never mind a 23 year old legal and fully
working Cx estate - (these aren't exactly thick on the ground) fully roadworthy
with MOT/Tax.

Saw it last night with my 8yr old, who thought the whole think hilarious.
Did the Citroen really blow over in the night or was it carefully lowered there to be raised back on it's wheels again?

wasn't sure if the whole car really went over the cliff, but this shows it did.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... stunt.html
Didn't I see something (maybe here even) about TG having permission to use cars for this sort of thing which have been ordered to be crushed?
Probably a victim of the car scrappage scheme

I dont think the CX really fell over, it will have been staged, as usual.

Would have been interesting to see if that was an XM estate, hydraqctive suspension will have no doubt made it a little more stable to drive!

Yep, considering the trouble they get into for slightly nudging a tree I imagine what actually went over was no more than the tacked on bodywork.

Besides, do you really think Clarkson would have walked all that way!

And the falling over was clearly staged, the fact that it was equipped with a lifting point strong enough to get it back on it's wheels gave that one away.

I would have said the fact that a mobile crane was already setup that early in the morning after the "falling over" gave the game away

Also the fact is you would expect normally to call out a vehicle with a spectacle frame to do this.

Even if it required a high lift, a heavy commercial spectacle frame would have done this, and there are many recovery agents with type of equipment, which with their winches can, and do lift high.

C...........X..........Factor !

Post by ACTIVE8 »

Well it achieved 15 minutes of fame, and international stardom.

Warhol once said, "In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes."

So, in this case it applies to a car.

Well in this case this CX, although now no more its' former self, did get the C...X factor.

Thing is...it was bound to happen that a CX was going to go on there at some point. At least they aren't getting other CXs and (eg) dropping pianos on them etc.

It could have been a lot worse IMO, but it was still bad :lazer: . We can always say "why didn't they use another car", but all fans of other classic cars would say that...and probably more from the Marina enthusiasts!
