"F" ..

greetings, i have try to start my xantia 2.0i. but it takes some time to start &
logo "F" comes on at the dashboard.. what should i do? :(

That could be the engine oil level light - have you checked if it's got enough oil?

Unless it's VERY low on oil - and probably now knackered - it shouldn't affect starting however..

Haha, low engine oil does indeed look like an 'f' :D

the oil level is excellent.. hmm.. this is confusing.. i just replaced starter last week though... :?

Perhaps the sensor is damaged ?

I'm not sure where it is on these.

I (think) on XU petrols its on the back of the sump area just above the drain plug area. Although I seem to recall later models (or different engines) have it at the front below starter actually...

Oil pressure switch iffy? This lives on the front face of the block just above
the starter where it may have been disturbed in the new starter's fitment?
Either that or too much oil?

What position of the dash warning lights (colour) is it?

hmm.. maybe.. its the top most right.. "f" like symbol.. orange colour.. but after ignition, about 10 seconds or so.. it dissapear.. mm...

Oil pressure might be a bit low.
When was the oil last changed?
If it in a very poor state, it might result in low oil pressure and compression (= starting problems).

It is the low oil level warning - if it senses the oil is low it flashes for fifteen seconds at ignition on (or is it engine start?) then goes off.

I could be mistaken but don't these sensors sometimes give phantom warnings on synthetic oil?
