Can anyone tell me, I know were the starter is on the 8v 1600 Petrol Picasso, it needs changing, is it a Sod to do? Do I need to remove the drive shaft to get any better access??

D'uh again.... original ones were 8V - I think maybe the later ones are 16V....
Anyway - BOL does not mention anything specific about 1.6 starter removal - whereas for the 1.8 it suggests that you need to drain the cooling system and remove the hoses from the stat housing then slide the starter out under the end of the inlet manifold.
