C5 front calipers

Hi - Can anybody tell me which way the front caliper pistons wind back on an 03 2.0 HDi 110 C5? - I know they are handed unlike the Xantia, but can't remember which side is which

Offside anticlockwise
Nearside clockwise

Yes, the RH front disc needs a left hand piston rewind tool - it makes the job very easy. About £25.

(The RH rear piston on a C4 also needs to be re-wound anticlockwise, and this tool will do it.)

I didn't use any fancy tool to rewinfd the calipers.

I carefully a large flat blade screwdriver and rotated the pistons accordingly. £25 saved and in my pocket!

I made this tool which winds the pistons back easily.

The prongs fit the two grooves in the piston.
Pressure on the rounded end pushes the pistons back whilst a T-bar through the prongs winds them.
Note: They go in much easier if the bleed valve is opened.

As it is, it is advisable to open the bleed nipple anyway, to prevent dirty fluid being forced back into the ABS system, which can be damaged by this action.

A 3/8th ratchet and extension fits perfectly into the slot on the piston and will work either left or right
