Folks, I am posting this on behalf of a friend with the above car. He mentioned to me that his brakes were tinkling, so we whipped off the wheels to find, bizarrely enough, one anti-squeal shim only on both sets of front brakes. One side had it on the upper edge of the pads, the other side on the lower.
In my limited experience this does not seem normal - so can someone tell me :
either
it is normal for this car
or
it's not normal, and then tell me where we can source the shims?

I had a quick look on servicebox at a 1.6 HDI and it isn't normal. A pack of 2 shims is £13 from a dealership. However I suspect a good clean up and some copper slip will stop them squeeling?
