C5 Aux adaptor fitted :)

I did see different height springs/lowered springs by 20mm listed for the C5 when i first was looking for the car but thought hows that possible as it
has Hydra-active suspension?

Maybe you experienced members can enlighten me on this as haven't look into the setup properly yet.

I think my car is doing the same as yours when it comes to speed humps too

Well it would be very intersting to see a C5 with lowering sporings, id like to know where they fit

They can, in theory, be lowered, however by computer via the Lexia program. Although this wont have much effect at all on the handling, it might effect the ride though, which is why id like to give it a go and see how it goes. I only mean by a few mm, just so there is less of a gap above the tyres in the arches.

As you know the car lowers itself at speed and raises itself on poor roads to give a bit extra ground clearance.

The C5s suspension system is called Hydractive3 (H3). Some models have H3+ which has a sports mode and firms the suspension like the Xms and range topping Xants. However no 2.0HDi 110 C5 has ever been available with it.

I had to look at these springs again and now see they are for the new C5 from 2008 onwards..

you live and learn so they say!

I did know the suspension was called Hydractive 3 and knew the + part has an extra sphere which stiffens up the suspension but now also know no springs are involved at all

I hope you do get to see if the suspension can be lowered with the Lexia
to atleast 110kph level which i have read is 15mm

I cant remember the exact figures at which it lowers, but its something like 15mm front an 10mm rear, to give it a more wedge like shape which is supposidly good for drag and economy.

It's 75mph (120km/h) - which means that, legally, drivers in the UK will never experience it!

Thats a point actually, ive heard a lot of info saying that the C5 lowers are 68mph, providing the road is smooth enough and that speed has been maintainted for so long, ive no idea how long that is.

Ive also heard it said about it being 75MPH before the car lowers.

Does anyone have any hard fact about this? Im sure it must be in the C5 handbook? Ill have to go and have a look. It seems odd to set a car up for a feature and for it not to be legally used in the UK.

Having said that, when ive been following another of our C5s or someone has been following me, the car has looked slightly lower than normal on the motorway.

I'm pretty sure it says 110 kph (68 mph) in our Handbooks and I also read that it stays at it's lower level till your speed drops around 80 kph (49 mph).

So we should be benefitting from it on most motorway journeys here in the UK too

I would receheck my handbook but have mislaid it somewhere but I'm sure Citroenmad will be looking into verfying this

Mine says the height is reduced at motorway speeds and returns to the original setting if the speed falls below 45mph or uneven road surface is encountered.

I had to search and find my handbook and can confirm my handbook says the same as yours

I'm pretty good at remembering figures quoted and must have then read about the 110kph setting somewhere on the net then

I expects its going to be hard to feel when your car lowers itself at those speeds but must say it would be nice to have the option to start out at that height to see what it feels like

Information on Citroenet mentions the 110 kmh lower setting and says it rises back to normal at 90 kmh and not 80 kmh

There's seems to be some varying figures out there

Could depend on when the vehicle was built, earlier ones may not be the same as more recent ones.

Hmmm, I'll have to find out where I saw that 120km/h figure from. The bit about it not being legal in the UK made it stick in my mind.

A handbook I have to hand merely says motorway speeds and then 45mph when slowing down.

Ive not looked in my handbook, but no doubt it will say the same as yours does.

Thats probably where ive read the 68mph lowering speed, on the citroennet site. Im pretty sure that would be right.

Thre should be a warning of some sort to say its dropped to motorway height, as that would be handy to know if its working and when. Some Range Rovers do this i know, so it is done on some cars.

That would have been really handy as you say..

It would be nice to know from the experienced Lexia owners what changes can you make (if any) to these height settings.

I would like to know if anyone has played with the height settings too.

I had a look on the lexia which davetherave used on my car, it seemed easy (not that we tried) to adjust the height by telling the car how much to change height by.
