Good post, Jim. You only need a light spray of oil to give chips that golden colour that is so appealing.

Mind you, I don't eat the things as one has to watch one's weight when over 60!

When I went there was no 'end' date, but surely it must.

I wish I had an IBC (and the cash) as I would fill it! Mind you, I don't do a lot of miles in the car, so unless it had a very long shelf life, I would be a little reticent about buying serious shed loads of it.

I dunno, maybe it's a legal thing that there has to be a best buy date?

Sounds to me like it'd be handy if forecourts started a vegetable oil pump. Surprised supermarkets that are getting hit hard by vege oil users don't take advantage of supply and demand - that thing wot the markets run by, I thought - and stock more of the stuff to cope with demand and make more money. That's what it's all about, isn't it?

Exactly if there making a proffit from a promotionall offer then its only common sense that you supply more of the product thats in demand you only have be cautious that you dont you over stock nad flood the market with a product so that everyone has more than they need and thus causing a reduction in sales after all its no good selling loads in one go if you cant sell it over a prolong period.
As for the sell by date they only made it law during WW1 so as justify rashioning and stop people from saving up rashion tickets.

Try a light spray with olive oil, grind a little pepper and Maldon sea salt and you'll be happy!

Yum. Not too much vinegar mind.
Only partly, its true they had no oil, because people had been taking advantage of the offer, i just think its unfair that some consumers will miss out because ONE person has cleared the shelf out, ever heard of sharing, it seems to be lacking in this day and age.

How do you know someone was taking advantage? Did they start with 200 bottles and sell al 200 to one person, or did 100 people buy 2 each?

The maths is quite easy, Gareth.

You seem to completely miss my point. Next time, try and be 'fair' to other people, so that others can get the benefits from a special offer. Its got nothing to do with me being stupid with mathematics, you could be a bloody genius for all i care but clearing a shelf out so that other people cannot benefit is pure greed and selfishness, and if you dont see it like that, then you are the selfish one.

Xantiaman seem rather upset... perhaps because he didn't/couldn't take advantage first... anyway good for you Napolean, if I had realised a few years ago (before the price nearly doubled) I would have filled my garage with the stuff.. go get it Guy's (with Bosh pumps)

You can use veggie oil in your engine that is years out of date so stokcpiling it is only an issue for the space it takes up.

Buy an old rain butt or such like and then fill it with the oil :) i did and while it takes some time to fill its easier in the long haul and means only one big trip to the dump to recycle the bottles :)

Not upset at all.

I dont have a TD that can use veg anymore. I used to, and i practised what i preached and didnt clear a shelf because i was try to save a few pounds. I used to order it in bulk so that the shelves were still stocked, available to others.

It seems there is a minority on here, with the 'I dont care what other people think, its all about me', i would suggest you change cars to a BMW were you would be perfectly suited.

Maybe its the way i was bought up. I hold doors open for people. I say please and thank you. I have respect for others. But i'm beginning to wonder why i bother, when no-one would do the same for me.

I couldn't agree more !!! It's like the people who buy 37 pints of milk and 25 loaves of bread because the shops are shut for 2 days at Christmas.

To me it's negative economics anyway, not to mention a fire risk, something I'm quite sure an insurance company would be more that happy to use to their advantage.............
