C5 Radio Dead

Unread post by JT »

Hi folks,
Friend of mine has 2005 C5 1.6 HDI.
Last week his battery died.
However since replacing it the radio won't work. Not a kick out of it!!
The CD player will accept a CD but spits it back out again straight away.
All the fuses are fine.
Any ideas??

Had that when reconnecting the battery.
Didn’t realise that the volume button needed pushing to switch back on.
Not obvious when you’re used to turn switches and always leave the radio on.

Friend says he has tried that Clogzz, but still nothing!!
Should he perhaps hold the button in for a certain period of time or while turning on the ignition or something quirky like that??

Is there anything on the display ?
The radio should work in the accessory position with no need to hold the button down for any length of time.
Maybe try disconnecting the battery again, and reconnect once while making sure to cause no intermittent contacts.

Problem solved.
Turns out the the volume button was loose on the spindle so when it was pushed in it wasn't making proper contact.
Fixed the button, pushed in and bingo, radio on.
Thanks for the help Clogzz.

My radio (well, CD player) works at any time, even without the key in the car. For 45 minutes anyway, then economy mode cuts in.

There's likely a shunt fuse Steve, one position is unswitched, the other switched and yours is in the former slot.

That would be handy.
I preferred the Xantia, where you could always go clock watching.

Mine was the same would not come on was totally dead.
i took out and checked the fuse then for some reason i pulled the on off button out a bit and bingo works fine now.

seems the contacts was stuck and sugest to try this before any other solution first if anyone else has this problem.
