405 Radio?????????????

I have an 89 405, and it is equipped with an anti theft radio. However, when i turn it on, there is no display there... it usually says "CODE" but it says nothing now. Also... the heater control knobs do not light up when the rest of the car's controls do.
Could this just be a blown fuse???
-or a much deeper problem?

look at the display with a torch when you turn it on, you might find the display backlight isn't working.
Do you have to enter the code every time, if so there's something wrong.

The display COULD be broken... but after i turn on the radio, i type in the code... and it still won't play.
In the radio manual it says that you need to type it in everytime u turn the radio on.
