Squeaky clutch pedal?

Unread post by Dommo »

Hi all

I've got an irritating squeak when I lift off the clutch lightly, sprayed everywhere around the clutch pedal - no better, looked under the engine bay while my dad pressed the clutch and it seems to be squeaking from the bulkhead there, presumably where the rod on the clutch pedal goes through. I've covered this rod in grease so its definately bulkhead side.

I'm unable to see anything from above so I will have a look from underneath when I feel up to it, but I was basically wondering if there's anything obvious that needs greasing. Also the gearbox makes a squeak too, however its not as loud as the bulkhead squeak. On my 1.9TD 306 there is an arm on top of the gearbox that the cable pulls on, I know the activa system is a hydraulic system but I'm not really sure how the slave cylinder at the gearbox end, is it an arm as per the cable driven clutchs??

Cheers. Dom.

Hi Dom,

A new one on me!

I can only think it's related to the master cylinder pushrod and you can only see this if you really get yourself upside down in the footwell...

The clutch operates very much like the cable one. The slave cylinder pushes on an arm/forks inside the bellhousing...

That's what I think it is, all the pivots and hinges and moving bits in the footwell have been sprayed with silicone grease with no improvement. The pushrod has been greased well from inside the car with no improvement, so I think I need to get the car up on ramps and have a spraying session from under there next. Might go do that in a moment actually.. Hmmm..

I've just tried spraying everywhere in the engine bay that looked clutch cylinder shaped, to no avail. Guess I'll have to live with it without taking things out, doh!
