My Activa

Unread post by Tzani »

Hello guys,
As I have written in another thread:
I'm new in your forum, but I have spent a lot of time fighting with my Activa.
I'm very happy to find such rich of information regarding the Activas forum.

Here are some photos of my car:

Nearly the sister of my silver Activa Tzani :D

My silver Activa is in very poor condition and is a long project to make good again. You can see my Red Activa just in front of it!

Yours has the 16V engine with the variable inlet manifold. The XU10J4RS I believe. That engine was never available in an Activa in the UK. UK models were only fitted with the old XM CT Turbo (XU10J2CTE) engine. There are a few V6 Activas in the UK but all are "specials".

Do you run yours on LPG (Autogas)? I think I see a gas installation at the back of the engine...

Yes, this is the engine. It shares the same ECU with the CT engine, but... I don't know, may be the CT is better. It is sure that the simple 2.0 16v (XU10J4R) causes the least problems.

Yes, I have converted it to LPG.
We have a good refueling stations network here with LPG and it is really cheaper to drive on LPG.
But as far as I know there is LPG in England too. Wasn't the Queen driving her Rolls-Royce on LPG?
That is another part of my interests (besides the struggling with the Activa hydraulic system :D ) - the gas injection systems.

For the colors, I think that the red one's are best! And for the engines - V6 :P
But this is a very expensive dream.

I have a friend with a red Activa with the XU10J4R engine.

P.S.
Please excuse me for my English, but it is not my mothers language and it is not easy for me to express myself.

LPG is freely available in the UK and a lot cheaper than petrol. It is surprising that so few people use it really. With the current very high cost of petrol, I am sure many more will. I would be keen to run my V6 on LPG.

There are a few people on here experienced in LPG.

I think one of the Royal family was also running one of their cars on biodiesel.

The CT Turbo is a great engine but very thirsty for petrol. It would be much better running on LPG. The V6 is the best engine of all and uses less petrol than the CT, even when used with an automatic gearbox.

The big disappointment for us in the UK was the unavailability of the diesel Activas. In France an Activa fitted with the 2.1TD and later the HDi engine was available.

There is no problem at all, your English is very good and much better than my Bulgarian! I expect you have more difficulty reading our English than we do yours. We often use words and phrases on here that are not strictly good English.

As an Englishman who has travelled the world I always feel rather guilty that we only speak one language and expect the whole world to speak our language. Sadly, there is little incentive for us to learn other languages because it seems everybody does speak English. A lot of us on here know just a little French as that can be useful when you own a French car!!!

It is always a surprise - and a very pleasant one - to see just how good our non English members are with our language and as Jim says, we are absolutely diabolical with any other language than our own and sometimes even with that.

I have only met one Bulgarian person, she is the girlfriend of the father of my youngest grandson and she is an absolutely delightful girl, studying photography at Newcastle university and has about five jobs to support herself financially!

Thank you very much guys!

LPG conversion is quiet easy at all.
Here we have conversion kits, which include: The gas ECU, the injectors rail, the reducer-vaporizer and the hoses (actually everything that is mounted in the engine section) + datacable and the software needed for the adjustment of the system. All this is on price around 300 euros.
It has full documentation for self mounting.
All that is left is to buy and mount the gas bottle and the piping from the boot to the engine bay.

Imagine being a fly on the wall when the UK salesperson is questioned about the mpg figures of the CT engine, watch that tumbleweed blow by!
