any one know what make / model this is?
I know its not car related just a family member has it in has shed and wants to know a bit about it!

Looks like an old petrol strimmer type thing.

Does look like a strimmer, almost as if the engine fits on like a backpack!

With the file name including "bushwhacker" I think Paul knows what it is :D
He just would like to know what make and model strimmer it is.

I'm surprised one our antipodean correspondents has not yet shed some light on this as they are/were rather popular down under...

That one pre-dates H and S twitchiness. Safety is definitely the responsibility of the beholder there...

i did a google search and it seems to be by a company called CRAFTSMAN, dan under

I think it might be a "TAS" by Tanaka, but I can't find a picture to prove it.

I think that this is a later version of the same make....

and this is the spare parts catalogue for the original...

In New Zealand there were thousands of them in use, often in national parks and the like, keeping noxious weeds down, or on the hills near our house, trimming the grass in early summer to reduce the fire hazard. I am faily sure they were branded as "TAS" rather than Tanaka for that market.
