last week had 700 miles hassle free motoring out of her , then this week pottering about had this fault flash in my screen
any general problems to check for?
would having to nearly run her oin fumes cause this?
has my c5 got a particle filter thingy ?
Possible but probably not, but even if you had it would be unlikely that that would give that message. The Anti Pollution (De Pollution) message will come for almost anything engine related if it's really serious it will go into LIMP mode.
Would be best to get it read by a Lexia that way you will have a good idea if (a) it's potentially serious and (b) where exactly to start looking.

Keeping them clean doesnt work, unless mine likes being dirty. As its forever playing up with one thing or another. I just dont think mine likes being a car at all actually, as i can rarely use it as one! Yet again, after the front o/s brake almost cought fire on the motorway today, its sat on the drive going nowwhere until i get it fixed. Currently needs new front discs and pads (as one side is runied after causing lots and lots of smoke, due to the brake comming and sticking on at motorway speed) and handbrake cables, maybe a new calliper too.
For the 3rd time in the 3 months ive had it i cant use it. Its getting a bit inconvenient.
Seriously, I need a change of car! One which works more often than it doesnt. Wouldn't that be a luxury!
Chris.

Some of them might be, but my 04 plate VTR isnt. It drives lovely, but has problem after problem. Though ive not had any problems to speak of with the other two. Hopefully it will be sorted for a while once i get this fixed

I dont know, it does worry me that there is just so much to go wrong on these, probably why C5s are the one of the cheaper bigger cars maybe.
Im a bit down hearted with mine. My previous cars have been so reliable im not used to not being able to rely on a car.
To look at its in fantastic condition, not a mark on it, but it just seems to find one thing after another it requires replacing or fixing. Im not sure if i like C5s enough to stick with it/them.
Id like to swap it for a facelifted version, but i know the 2.0 8v is one of the most reliable diesels in the C5, so id possibly just be even more worried about what could go wrong with a newer model.
I almost bought a 54reg VTR 2.0 HDi 16v (facelift) over a year ago before i got my first S1. It had lots of options including the turning xeons, parking pack etc. But i didnt bring myself to buy it as i had in mind it had so much to go wrong, and not everything ive heard about C5s had been a glowing report. So i left it, turned out it was a good idea as i spotted the same car in the dealers a few months after, it was there over a month. The service guy said it was having problems with injectors and wouldnt run above 2500rpm. Lucky escape i think!
I would like something less complex if in honest, these comms units, dual mass flywheels and FAP filters etc, its all just more to go wrong in my mind. However very little else takes my fancy, so i think im stuck with C5s.
Handbrake cables are on order, hopefully it will behave after that ...
In in Hartlepool, about 30 miles south of newcastle.

Chris!
I sold you a perfectly good C5!
Yes, your VTR has a blue interior but the SX with the grey is quite tasteful!
Ben
Currently driving a 2004 C5 VTR (old shape) and an Electric Kia Soul. Sorry but the electric one is my favourite!
Formerly Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6, 2 x Kia Optima, 2 x C5, Xsara and Saxo.
I know, the SX is a great car. Though i didnt actually swap the SX for my VTR, as i had another car in between. The SX is my sisters now, though i still drive it quite a bit.
The late S1 VTR is always the model I wanted, so when i found what i thought to be a good car i got it. In the colour i was wanting too. Its not a bad car, just has a few issues. To be honest its issues are not through lack of maintenence or anything like that, just odd things which have cropped up. It does have full history and its spotless, as is the SX. It does drive and handle better than the SX and i prefer the larger wheels. Im pretty happy with it really, just need to get its problems ironed out.
Got the brake free and the spring return thing is now free. Just need to fit the new handbrake cables. Which doesnt sound like a lot of fun!
Are you going to the drive this weekend Ben?
Chris.
