my l reg citroen xantia

Post by kevino »

this is a message really to citroen jim, but anybody can comment if they wish.
I have a citroen xantia 1.9td saloon and recently I was talking to paul who told me that my xantia is a non sinker which he believes is quite rare on such an early xantia.
It has the two high pressure pipes coming from the pump.
how many more are there out there ???

It is rare indeed Kevin! I thought Paul was having a laugh claiming his L plater was an anti-sink but I know it is true as I've seen it with my own eyes..

What's your RP number and are the chevrons on the bonnet?

Look after her Kevin, she's special

I had a very early L plate Sinker back along.

Ah ha!

Beaten to it!

Yes Kevins IS an Anti Sink car, with NO Air Bag, and chevrons ON THE BONNET ! And an L reg car too!

Yes Im shouting becuase its prooving that Anti sink came along sooner then Air Bags and seat belt tensioners, and the "New grill" with chevrons in them..

This then does make it harder to detect a sinker, which shows will be even rarer then originally thought!!

However, I think I have found another L reg "Sinker" locally, shall find out when I new local customer comes to visit me tomorrow afternoon..

So....

Who has a K reg Anti-Sink then

Interesting as I always believed Chevrons on the bonnet was a sure sign of a Sinker.

My pretty accurate guess to that one Jim WILL be no one!

As Sinkers are on L reg too... the Anti sink cross over is late L 1994 to early M 1994..

L 1993 saw siniking cars.. cross to 1994 L reg anti sink cars...

Just out of interest folks, how long does it take a sinker to get to full pressure and normal ride height from 'sunk'?

Is an anti sink car any slower at raising from service low? It makes sense that it would be because of the extra sphere but is it really noticable?

Cheers.

First of all Jim, I will have to have a look for the rp number, I spotted it the other day when I was doing an oil and coolant check up.
After seeing Paul the other day I got back home to Merseyside, (roasting after Paul sorted my heater matrix out,) I pulled up to my front door and pulled the hand brake on and the left cable snapped.

The chevrons change to grill date was from RPO 6295.
Source 1995 model year briefing note.
Front wheel ABS sensors and rings (99 vs 90) changed then as well.

The sinkers rise far faster than the anti-sink cars, as they have a single outlet pump which means full pressure is devoted to lifting the car before you drive off.

My girl is 9 cars from this - shes an RP6286.. so one of the last before the air bags and grill change..

Incidentally John, do you have RP infor for change to anti sink?? This would be an interesting one, as orginally, I thought anti sink came along with the addition of Air bags/pre tesnioners, and grill change.. but so far prooved not

I thought that might be the case, I'd definately rather a sinker car. Would it mean you dont have to do 'citrobics' or not?

Not a specific RP number but anti-sink was introduced in December 93 for all Xantias fitted with power steering, so between RP 6232 and 6262, so just a month prior to the grille change.

I too would prefer a sinker with the chevrons on the bonnet :)

Post by kevino »

hang on here guys,
there seems to be a bit of a problem here, my xantia has the rp number 6323 and my xantia has the anti sink, power steering and the chevrons on the bonnet not on the grill ???
Xmexclusive wrote "The chevrons change to grill date was from RPO 6295.

The debate goes on !!!
