Spheres locations

Unread post by KP »

I am sure there was a guide as to what sphere is what on the activa and a more accurate location guide, like a 3D picture i think it was but for the life of me i can not find it anywhere now and im confused as to which is the activa sphere and which is the hydractive one on the rear :( front was easy but im all confused, must be getting senior i think...

I think its the one on the hydractive block but my mind is jelly tonight :(

You're just losing your Google skills. When viewed from the rear, the Activa sphere is the furthest up and to the right.

I think this is what you're after. I referenced it when I did mine, very helpful. You can also see which spheres are suitable for substituting if you cannot get hold of specific Activa ones.

DOH!!!

That means i have put the hydractive sphere on the 8 position. :(

Is the hydractive center sphere the one that is horizontal and the activa sphere the one that is hanging down like on the front of the car, and the closest to the RAM??

Means another go under the car tonight to swap it over....

Will, to be sure..

Looking under the rear of thje car.

Corner spheres, obvious. A-S is the one more-or less in the middle laying flat and pointing outward.

The sphere hanging down at 45 degrees by the ram is the Hydractive Centre Sphere.

The sphere up on the LH side and pointing towards the NS wheel and high in the subframe is the Activa Balancing sphere.

Front. The one on the crossmember just in front of the rad is the Hydractive Centre. The one hanging down under the battery tray is the Activa Accumulator.

Cool cheers Jim,

Think i'll be swapping that one over to the correct sphere tonight....

On another note, how the hell do you get the hydractive one out? do you need to remove the spare wheel and carrier?

Just to make this easier for future readers here is a link from the activa french site.

On page 3, Item 3 there is a picture with a ratchet strap in. Where the strap is there would normally be the anti sink sphere, The one above this is the Activa Sphere. the one on the right hand side, the one to the far right is the hydractive sphere.

Hopefully my ramblings will help others in the future!

I always remove the spare wheel carrier. Makes life so much easier :D One bolt and it is out...

The Pleiades tool will get good purchase on all the spheres. The Hydractive and balancing Sphere is hard without a Pleiades tool and they are under pressure (unless you are brave enough to release the Active block Bleed nipple) so will be seriously tight until they are started and begin to leak.

Sometimes the pressure in the Hydractive spheres can be reduced/released by opening the main bleed screw on low with the engine running.

Cheers Jim I'll do that tonight.

Rachel already thinks she is single again as i have hardly seen her the last few nights when working on the car as by the time i come in she has fallen asleep on the sofa! :)

PS i have that server ready :) 2x74 gig discs and 3x300gig drives as well :)

Also is the Hub nut a 34mm one so i can get the bearing done?

Thanks,
Will

Nooooo, this is Citroen, remember? It's 35mm... a 36mm will do IIRC if it's a 6 sider. Shouldn't be too tight unless it has been off before and whacked up with a windy gun
