BX Ventilation

Unread post by oilyspanner »

I am just bolting together my latest 1.9TD BX, after much substitution of fans, fan card, and the other transistor thing that lives in the fan I have a fan that blows at low speeds but not high speed, does the full speed fan relay live where it used toon older ones ?[:I]
Second point, when I press the brake at standstill the rear of the car dips! Air in rear suspension/brakes?
Wanted BX Haynes up to 1993!

Fan relay should be on the steering wheel from what I remember - that's certainly where I'm getting a clicking when the dodgy contact on my fan card cuts in/out.
Point 2 - think you're absolutely right on this - brake bleeding time.
Did you have to hack things about much in the engine bay area to get the 1.9 TD in there?
BX manual - some franchised local waste sites save anything they think they can sell on - and one of my local sites collects Haynes manuals. YOu might find a similar arrangement elsewhere - or get one from Ebay (avoiding the hideously expensive ones you'lll always find there).

Thanks for the reply, the 1.9 went in with minimal hacking, ended up getting the end of the camshaft drilled and tapped to take the HP pump pulley, getting the pulley bored out to fit fatter shaft blanking off oil return, adding cam end seal(Should have fitted BX cam) swap engine loom and sensors, used BX flywheel, clutch and box and starter motor, alternator + mounting bracket, straightforward really.

Hi Stewart
You can try bleeding the brakes, but be prepared for a faulty doseur valve - any air would have to be in the line from the doseur to the rear brakes - that is the only 'cul-de-sac'
