Most cars in those positions would be leaning considerably with the lower wheels on the ground.andmcit wrote:What's with all the on three wheels and one in the air?
Wonder what happened - giving it the beans and lost it's grip?
Andrew
From the comments, "it was slippery"
I'd imagine as you say, giving it some beans, had to swerve for something maybe and lost control.
Impressive the occupants weren't injured.
Going by that and the other recent pictures of Xantia crashes, especially the ones at 40-50mph, the cars hold up well, despite their poor encap rating.
Not that I'd like to put it to the test mind you!

My thoughts exactly Xac. Done well to get out uninjured.
It's something which has always been in the back of my mind. Barrelling down a nice country road, and then, mid-corner, you hit a bit of mud, or cow droppings! Straight to the hedge. I suspect an Activa would be particularly vicious in this respect, although the limits are so high that I doubt I'd come across them!
The Xantia NCAP tests are, i believe, done on a S1 car (tested in 1997). The S2 was strengthened (probably, in part, to pass such tests) so hopefully it will stand up a little better.

Indeed James, the limit is far away but when she goes, she goes in style I'm led to believe. Imagine Lift Off Oversteer and then some and you get the picture.Sl4yer wrote:I suspect an Activa would be particularly vicious in this respect, although the limits are so high that I doubt I'd come across them!
My first Activa had a problem with it's roll correction when I picked it up. It was lethal and I sort of discovered it's limits them. I nearly did end up in a hedge backwards...

Yes the car looked good, and it looked like the owner got a decent record of their car with all the pictures, although there is a seems to be a habit of getting it on three wheels. In the end even more wheels seemed to have left contact with the ground. What a shame as the car looked good, pleased to hear that they got out unhurt. It would be interesting to find out it happened.
