Continental breakdown cover

Unread post by fastred »

My Xantia V6 comes up to 10 years old in March, and the Green Flag/Citroen Assist policy I have had since I bought the car will not extend to travel outside the UK after that date.

Green Flag will give me temporary Continental cover but they want well over £200 for 15 days in France, even though I have never made any claim on my policy.

Anyone had experience of alternatives for short-term breakdown insurance?

Thanks,

fastred

I had to change insurance companies over this issue. I am currently insured with M&S, who didn't (and I assume still don't) put an age limit on European cover. Their UK breakdown cover is supplied by RAC, I don't know who has the European contract.

Have a look at eurorescue.co.uk a friend used this last year and was happy with their cover.

I had a few days away last year. I took AA cover, which I think was £45.

I use the AA every time. And in each of the three instances I've had to use them over the years, they have been nothing but exemplary. And not too expensive. I even took out additional (optional) £500 parts and labour cover on a 18 year old BX last time - peace of mind is a great thing to have on a holiday. Didn't need it, but (I checked) if I had needed to it wouldn't've been a problem.

I use Europ assistance breakdown cover. It does home start, normal breakdown and 90 dats european cover for 90 days p/a. There's no limit on age of vehicle.
