Matrix hose question

How can the twin hoses be disconnected from engine room side?
I've tried this but I think using more force will damage hard plastic material joints.

Here's a pic I've sent earlier in an other thread for the bleed nipple.

This looks the same as on my ZX. From memory I think you withdraw the metal clip, then I placed two screwdrivers, one each side of the pipes and gradually eased the pipes off.
Some lubricant like WD40 might help and also have the engine warm. The plastic is less brittle when it's warm.

I found refitting the pipes more arkward than removing them, until I put some lube on them.

Run the engine til the fans kick in and the system is pressurised to help push the pipes off.
Get a firm grip on the elbow joints and use your thumb to press the metal clip to the side to release it.
Pull firmly, swear lots, pull some more, invent new swear words, pull harder, and if you're lucky it will come off spraying hot water everywhere so be careful!

I couldn't figure it out how the metal clip was related but I'll try your advice and if it doesn't come out easily then I'll try Xac's method, pressing sideways and pulling

The hoses are on a scrap car and in a very good condition. No chance to warm up

I've already tried to remove the connection once.

Push the metal lever to the right and wiggle it lots.

It REALLY HELPS to aid removal with a long SCREW Driver behind the pipes, and use it to help lever the hoses off!!

BE CAREFULL and paitient! Go easy! Pull to hard or be to haisty they will break!

I VERY successfully removed a set of hoses from a car last weekend which had been in for some time and engine not ran for about 3 years, so it is possible!

Could always use an air hose to pressurise them with the clip off and they should blow off then

Now I have 2 long screw drivers in the trunk

If I recall correctly it's not the getting off that's the difficult bit but getting the bu**ers back on!!

I'd say both jobs were about the same really.

Some models are distinctly more difficult than others. Anything with a turbo is tricky because of the poor access it affords. This includes the 1.9 and 2.1TDs and the Activa particularly, the latter the most difficult of all

It's also a lot easier with the engine removed

If you need to disconnect to lift the engine then it's easier to disconnect the hoses at the engine end...

I discovered a cheat for gettin them back on - put the O Rings half way up the pipes not all the way home - this way then as you push the pipes in the O ring moves up the pipe by which time the Clip has caught and all is sealed..

I have resorted to useing fairy before now.. but above useually does the trick!

Strangely, no matter what technique I use with Juliet, she blows the pipes off.
Sans o-rings though the pipes fit perfectly, click into place and don't lose a drop of water!
Jim can confirm this, but I think he ones on Juliet are Berlingo ones as her original ones cracked trying to remove them.
