Gearbox exploded diagram?

Unread post by siraff »

Hello.
I'm after an exploded diagram (or just some info) of a Citroen/Peugeot 5 speed. The one I've got is from a 2.5TD relay but it looks very similar (if a little larger) to an early 306 gearbox so either diagram will probably help.

The issue with the 'box is that it can find third but can't hold the gear. I've stripped the outer casing from the bellhousing and it just needs a gear and a ring gear. Unfortunately when I removed the housing some of the outer parts made a bid for freedom so now I need to know which way up they go back in.

I've never split a gearbox before so please be gentle with the tech terms as I don't know much about them - though I'm learning as I go along.

Simon.

The BE gearbox's are typically fitted to the XU engines (some 1.6 petrols (typically auto) and most 1.8 / 2.0) and all diesels

The other type (I "think" MA) gearbox's are fitted to the TU petrols (1.1 / 1.4 / most 1.6)

Having said that, the diagrams I have are bits and pieces :( rather than a complete exploded diagram.

If you confirm what engine type you have (TU or XU) then someone will know which gearbox type diagrams you need ;)

91 205D-Turbo, gone but still missed
02 106D, TUD5B, gone but not really missed apart from the MPG

If its the same as the CX gearbox you have probably lost the 5th gear synchro assembly - guess how I know :D

Spider - its in a relay van so I can't be sure but it looks the same as a BE to me - just a bit larger in all dimensions (though it may be the same as its been a long time since I last did one of those boxes on a car. The diff housing and driveshafts are noticeably larger. They use a 50mm nut on the driveshaft ends and the whole assembly seems larger but the same design.

Peter N - That sounds about right. The stuff that went AWOL sits outside the main casing in the steel end casing.
I undid it to allow the main case to move but never thought to take everything off before pulling the case.
First time of taking a gearbox apart so I won't make the same mistake next time.

Its a pain to get back together, assuming you can find all the balls, I ended up with a piece of rag wrapped around the whole of the end to catch the balls and springs every time they flew out, I got it back together eventually but there must be an easier way.

Have a gander at my website and follow the BE3 links. That shows how a BE3 is assembled...

EDIT: Weblink edited.. Now works...

Thanks guys.

Citrojim - that link doesn't seem to work for me.

Also does anyone know where I can get parts for the gearbox? I won't be able to try the dealer until tomorrow but I'm thinking they will possibly only sell the whole unit?

Sorry, finger trouble

Try now... http://www.eastment.net

Dealers sell parts. Expensive though.

Better to buy a 'box from a scrapper and use it as a donor... Ratios are not critical for most spares needs...
