Lumpy Tickover on Megane.

Unread post by Bobbydog »

This is my first post so Hi all :)
My 1.4, 16v megane has recently developed a lumpy tickover, it was given a service but the problem still persists. The mechanic said it ''could'' be the air temperature sensor but wasn't sure so i'm reluctant to spend on a new unit until i'm reasonably sure. Starting the engine from cold at home it misses slightly when driving up the long steep lane but runs reasonably well afterwards. I have a haynes manual but unsure of the sensors location. The engine is a K4J 750, 1.4, 16v, the car itself being on a Y {01} plate. Is the sensor located on the inlet manifold?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Sorry i should have mentioned its a petrol engine!
Its only done 49,000, the engine is fine when running but eratic when idling, more annoying than anything else.
The stepper motor and map sensor have been replaced with known working units but it still persists.
