Activas in Ireland

Unread post by KP »

Well out of pure curiousity i contacted Citroen Ireland through the contact bit on their webpage and tried to find out how many Activas were sold and in what conifgurations if possible but seem to have been passed onto a dealer/distributer network who have confirmed they sold 6 activas with the TCT engine. I was hoping to find out if any came with the lucious V6 engine... I have asked if thereis any other way to get the full info as i cant believe only 6 were ever sold there... all those twisties over there surely must have meant more were certainly sold....

There are loads, but they all seem to be on UK plates... :D

Seriously though, there are a couple on Irish plates in the Activa spotting thread...

Rather than talking to Citroen Ireland, try the Department of Transport in Shannon for registration info. They publish pretty detailed stats so you should get the info you need.

edit. The CSO might be able to help too: http://www.cso.ie/releasespublications/ ... ug2009.htm

The 2.0 turbo was the only model sold here, just like the UK. I had a V6 but it was LHD - some German guy bought it off me for a pittance. God knows where it is now. 8)

Ahh i was more interested to see if other engines were sold as the guy at M&M in holmfirth seemed to think they sold RHD V6's and others in the south as they were classed as a european market..

If this is correct then the only way of getting anything but a TCT in RHD is a conversion....

Hi Mr. Morrow,

I am not sure what you mean - Gallic Distributors are the sole importers
for Citroen vehicles in Ireland - we are in effect Citroen Ireland -
Gallic is just our trading name. We import Citroen vehicles into Ireland
and they are then sold through our network of approved Dealerships.

Regards,

Emmet
I cant believe only 6 were officially imported!!

You have to remember that Ireland had a road tax system that penalised anything over a certain engine size before the CO2-based system came in last year or the year before...

A 2 litre petrol car would have been seen as an extravagance :D

Anybody with a "big" engine would usually have been diesel-powered.

Hi guys, my Activa 96D27787 was originally a demo for Gallic distributors, its currently off the road with a suspension fault but it should be back very soon. Its generally in good order and I have a second UK reg car for spares. The guy that I bought the car off told me that its the sole surviving example that was originally registered by Gallic, is this true?

My Activa, 96D43824, was also originally registered in Ireland, as far as I know. And based on the previous posts, that means it was also registered by Gallic?
